Greetings everyone,
At the CCB annual membership meeting September 27th, a new set of bylaws was adopted by membership vote, and eight board members were elected to serve either one or two year terms. The new bylaws have the membership vote on board candidates, and then those elected to the board select among themselves who will serve in the roles of Chair, vice Chair, Secretary and Treasure. Congratulations to our new board members.

The new bylaws allow CCB to change its organization structure. This will be explained more completely in future communications but one immediate change is that the monthly meetings of the CCB steering committee are coming to an end, and in their place will be the following.
Public CCB Board Meetings held six times a year.CCB Membership Meetings/Events (including the annual membership meeting) held twice a year.CCB’s Community Leaders Meetings to discuss community-wide bicycle issues and opportunities held 2-3 times a year.
CCB’s first public board meeting will be held this Thursday, Oct. 8th, from 7-9 pm at the Campus Bicycle Center, 608 E. Pennsylvania, Champaign.
This is largely an organizing meeting for the new board, so they can select officers from among themselves (Chair, viceChair, Sec., Treas.), set a 2016 meeting schedule, and address other board and organizational business. But, also since CCB has so much currently happening, the meeting will also discuss maximizing the Illinois Bike Summit (held in Champaign on Oct. 28), the MCORE Project, and will review other activities for the benefit of the new board members.

The U of I Campus Bicycle Census is tomorrow, Oct. 7th from 10-11 am. If you’d like to help, we have another orientation meeting at 5 pm today. Details are here.
CCB will be at the Market at the Square on Saturday, Oct. 17th. A Bike Rodeo will held on Saturday Oct. 17th at the Farmers’ Market as well.
The Illinois Bike Summit is on Wednesday, Oct. 28th, at the U of I ihotel. All the details are at: www.IllinoisBikeSummit.com.
